Transform vs. Transmit

Mindfulness allows us to stay present with the box, even when it’s full of darkness. We learn not to reactively reject the unpleasant and to approach it with curiosity. If I hold hold my own “box full of darkness” mindfully, I am more inclined not to try to “fix it” immediately which may not result in “right action”.
Mindfulness allows a “knowing” that most all things are not personal. Couple this with equanimity, the capacity to remain open to what is present (pleasant or unpleasant), allows us to see the “gift” not necessarily in the event itself but in our response to it.
This quote encourages a kind of spiritual maturity in that what wounds us can also transform us. That being Broken Open can become a doorway to wisdom, strength and freedom.
I find mindfulness meditation supports my intention to transform vs. transmit….if only for a moment.
