Feel The Presence

“It is wonderful therefore to sit together, to be enveloped by a single moment, and feel the presence, and sense the lights and shadows of those who sit near us. It is good to be caught in the creative silence, surrounded by the brooding presence of God.”
Howard Thurman, “Men Who Have Walked with God: The Mystics,” in The Way of the Mystics.
These sentences caught my eye today as this is my experience with those I sit alongside. Sitting together in silence, whether in meditation or other contemplative spaces, creates a shared field of awareness where individual boundaries soften. There’s a sense of being held within something larger, something sacred. It’s a reminder that silence is not empty but full—full of Presence, possibility and connection.
I find mindfulness meditation supports my intention to feel the Presence….if only for a moment.
