Be Silent In The Midst Of Another
“Perhaps the most important thing we bring to another person is the silence in us……The sort of silence that is a place of refuge, of rest, of acceptance of someone as they are. We are all hungry for this other silence. It is hard to find. In its presence we can remember something beyond the moment, a strength on which to build a life. Silence is a place of great power and healing.”
I found this podcast to be interesting: How We Live With Loss featuring Rachel Naomi Remen.
I often find myself unable to be silent in the face of a loved one. I do better with others yet a loved one elicits fears, and it’s hard to not say something or do something. If I can “hang in there” with my own discomfort, perhaps I can allow others to be as they are, processing what they need to process or express; an act of releasing….
I find mindfulness meditation supports my intention to be silent in the midst of another….if only for a moment.
