Telehealth

Telehealth allows you to meet with your CenterPoint Counseling provider through a secure, live video appointment. You may participate from a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera, microphone, compatible web browser, and reliable internet connection.

Telehealth can be a convenient option when traveling to the office is difficult, your schedule makes an in-person appointment challenging, or you simply prefer to meet remotely.

How to Join Your Telehealth Appointment

CenterPoint Counseling uses TherapyPortal for telehealth appointments.

  1. Open the appointment reminder sent to your email or text messages and select the link to access the Client Portal.  You may also access CenterPoint Counseling’s Client Portal directly:
    https://www.therapyportal.com/p/centerpoint87/
  2. Sign in to your TherapyPortal account.
  3. When your appointment is available, it will appear near the top of your portal home page. Select Join Session.
  4. Your browser may ask for permission to use your camera and microphone. Select Allow.
  5. Enter your name and confirm that the correct camera and microphone are selected. You should see a video preview and an audio meter that moves when you speak.
  6. Select Join Session again when you are ready.
  7. You will enter a virtual waiting room. Your provider will be notified that you are ready and will admit you when the appointment begins. Please remain on the waiting-room screen.

As part of the check-in process, TherapyPortal may briefly take your picture to notify your provider that you are waiting. TherapyNotes states that this picture is not stored after the session.

Preparing for Your Appointment

For the best telehealth experience:

  • Use an updated version of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari, or Mozilla Firefox.
  • Connect to a strong, secure Wi-Fi network. When using a phone, Wi-Fi is generally preferable to cellular data.
  • Choose a quiet, private location where you can speak comfortably.
  • Close unnecessary applications and browser tabs.
  • Consider using headphones to improve privacy and reduce echo.
  • Make sure your device is charged or connected to power.
  • Keep your provider’s phone number available in case you become disconnected.
  • Join several minutes early so you have time to check your camera and microphone.

For the best audio and video quality, TherapyNotes recommends internet download and upload speeds of at least 1.5 Mbps.

During Your Appointment

The controls at the bottom of the telehealth screen allow you to:

  • Mute or unmute your microphone
  • Turn your camera on or off
  • Share your screen when that option is available
  • End the appointment

Closed captions may also be available from the telehealth welcome screen.

If You Become Disconnected

Return to the CenterPoint Counseling Client Portal. A banner may appear with a Rejoin Session link. Select the link to reconnect.

Both you and your provider must select the option to rejoin before the session can resume. If you continue to experience difficulty, contact your provider or call CenterPoint Counseling at 317-252-5518.
