Therapy Services
New Day is a free, ongoing directional support group for children ages 3-8th grade and their parent(s) who are experiencing divorce. At New Day, we believe that support from peers in small support group settings led by trained volunteer facilitators is where healing and growth can happen.
A New Day Night
New Day meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month from 6:00pm-7:45pm (September-May).
Families are welcomed to New Day nights with a pizza dinner and time to interact with other families, volunteers, and staff.
After dinner, youth will break into their age-based support groups that are led by New Day volunteer facilitators. Each group begins with an “opening circle” to get to know each other and to introduce the topic of the night. During the hour and 15 minute group time, youth take turns rotating through New Day’s hands-on spaces designed to meet various outlet needs a child may have. All groups will be invited to their “Homeroom”, “Volcano Room”, “Whisper Room”, and “Ocean Room”. Each room is equipped with a new directional activity each week that reflects the topic of the evening.
During the youth’s group time, parents also receive support. All parents are given a short psychoeducational lesson that relates to the youth’s topic of the night. New Day’s hope is to offer tools to parents to continue having conversations at home with their children about their feelings about divorce. Parents will then break out into their own processing groups. Please note that co-parents will not be placed in the same processing groups.
At 7:45pm, families, facilitators, and staff come back together to sing our New Day song and say “see you later” until next time!

New Day FAQs
What is New Day?
Is New Day really free?
Yes! New Day is offered at no charge to participating families, supported by the community partnership between CenterPoint Counseling and Second Presbyterian Church. We also offer free childcare for families with children under the age of 3.
Where does New Day meet?
New Day meets inside of Second Presbyterian Church at 7700m N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260.
Is New Day religious or a faith-based program?
No! New Day is a secular, professionally developed program created and staffed by CenterPoint Counseling. We meet inside Second Presbyterian Church, which partners with CenterPoint as a community mission — providing space so that this support can be offered to families at no cost. There are no faith-based components in New Day programming, and families of all backgrounds and beliefs are warmly welcome.
Do both parents have to participate?
New Day strives to encourage and help parents work toward co-parenting as much as possible, while maintaining a safe emotional environment. Therefore, both parents are invited to come as long as they can be in the same space in a positive and amicable manner. Please note that both parents will need to complete an application to participate.
Will my child or I be forced to share in group?
No! At New Day, we want all of our participants to feel safe and comfortable. No one is ever pressured to speak or share. Both children and adults are welcome to “pass” if they do not want to engage in an activity or discussion.
When can my family join?
New Day is an ongoing support group, which means families can join, leave, or re-join at any time based on a family’s needs. New Day understands that the divorce experience can bring up new feelings or challenges overtime, so we are here to offer support whenever it’s needed.
How do I sign up?
We are so grateful that you are considering joining us! Please fill out the participant registration form. After completing the application, our New Day Head Planner will email you with instructions and schedule a time to talk to learn more about your family.
