Experience Constant Change
Suzuki Roshi, via Joseph Goldstein, The Wisdom of Impermanence
I hope the above link works for a listen (if not, I’ll individually share) to this discussion by Joseph Goldstein on Impermanence, worth a listen.
Part of what I heard is when we observe the constant arising and passing of sensations, thoughts, and emotions, wisdom begins to take root. Noticing change is our way of understanding life beyond the intellect. Each breath, sound, and feeling reminds us that nothing is fixed. The more immediate our contact with this truth, the easier it becomes to let go.
In this practice of mindfulness, it allows one to experience impermanence. This knowing that “everything changes” allows seeing that everything moves, and in that movement, freedom can be found.
I find mindfulness meditation supports my intention to experience constant change….if only for a moment.
