That Which Activates Can Educate
“That which Activates can Educate.”
How do I bring curiosity to that which is unpleasant? This graphic serves as a reminder, we don’t need to force away what we don’t like, and sometimes, the most useful step is simply turning toward it with curiosity. Much easier said than done….
Pretty normal to have resistance to that which is unpleasant, and it narrows our awareness and increases suffering. While curiosity opens us to “education” in the sense we may have deeper insight to some past causes/conditions that is stored in the body. If mindful, a shift from shutting down unpleasant sensations to welcoming (aka, Rumi’s Guest House) them with curiosity can transform aversion into growth and learning. It encourages us to gently ask, “What is this?” and simply be present.
Final thought, all this generally will not bring immediate awareness of all past causes/conditions, yet it will allow us to be kind to ourselves and those around us.
I find mindfulness meditation supports my intention to learn from activation....if only for a moment.
