Be Lovingly Connected
"The key to living a successful, meaningful life, connected life, is understanding the complexity of our emotions, how to regulate them, and how to use them wisely. To use your words, so that we can interact with other people better and live better lives.”
Rich Roll, summarizing Marc Brackett, "This is The Single GREATEST Skill You Can Have” @ 3:09.
Emotional regulation is not about avoiding unpleasant feelings, it is about creating enough space between stimulus and response so that we can choose a wise next step. This is the “single greatest skill” because it opens a path towards more intentional, intergrated living. When we understand ourselves, ability to observe and describe, we interact with others more compassionately, particularly ourselves.
I find mindfulness meditation supports my intention to be lovingly connected….if only for a moment.
