Curious About My Suffering

                      “Don’t waste your suffering.

                      When we’re suffering, there’s

                             something to learn.”

                               –Joseph Goldstein

Joseph Goldstein highlights the idea that moments of suffering can be powerful opportunities for growth, self-awareness and insight.  Instead of resisting or avoiding pain, he encourages us to approach it with curiosity and mindfulness, asking what lessons or wisdom might emerge from the experience.

Suffering, in this view, can teach us about the impermanent nature of life, the ways we react to discomfort and how we might cultivate greater resilience, compassion, or understanding.  It’s about transforming hardship into a source of learning rather than seeing it as something to simply endure or escape.

I find mindfulness meditation supports my intention to learn how to be curious about my suffering….if only for a moment.
