Help Loosen My Grip
To see a world in a grain of sand,And a heaven in a wild flower,Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,And eternity in an hour.
-William Blake
I love reading these words and sitting with this image because they invite me to pause.
I also notice a longing in myself to be with it all in a more sincere and present way. In this season of life, I find myself moving quickly. So, when I read Blake’s words about “eternity in an hour,” I notice how often I am living from a sense of scarcity of time, space and stillness.
I am trying to allow this awareness and it’s bringing some humility. I know that much of this urgency is a mental distortion, and it can be difficult not to keep moving, producing and staying busy.
I find mindfulness supports my intention to help loosen my grip….if only for a moment.
