Slowing Down, Centering Down, Emptying

"It is astonishing how many people cannot, or will not, hold still. I could not, or would not, hold still for thirty minutes inside, but at the creek I slow down, center down, empty."

Annie Dillard

Mindfulness asks us to pause, notice, and be. Many resist this due to habit, discomfort, or a mind conditioned to constant motion. This reflects how challenging formal meditation or mindfulness practice can feel in typical settings where distractions, restlessness and judgment arise.

I find mindfulness meditation supports my intention for ....

  • Slowing down and becoming present to each moment.
  • Centering down and reconnecting with one’s breath, body, feelings.
  • Emptying by letting go, opening to awareness without striving, if only for a moment.
